Honda City Air Filter Replacement Malaysia
A blocked Honda City air filter raises fuel consumption and reduces acceleration. How often to change and can you DIY?

The engine air filter prevents dust and debris from entering the engine. A blocked filter restricts airflow, which richens the fuel mixture and raises fuel consumption. In Malaysia's dusty roads, it gets clogged faster than the handbook suggests.
Replacement interval
Every 20,000–30,000 km under normal conditions. In Malaysia, check at every 15,000 km and replace if visibly dirty — highway driving clogs it slower than city driving in dusty conditions.
Can you replace it yourself?
Yes. The Honda City air filter is housed in an airbox on the side of the engine bay, accessible after undoing a few clips or screws. Swap takes under 10 minutes with no tools needed beyond a screwdriver.
Cost in Malaysia
OEM-grade aftermarket filter (Denso, Sakura): RM25–RM50. Honda genuine filter: RM50–RM80. Workshop replacement (including labour): RM60–RM100. A high-flow reusable filter (K&N, BMC) costs RM200–RM400 but can be cleaned and reused.
