Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross
2018–present (GK) · 4B40 1.5T MIVEC · 8-speed CVT-TC
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross GK (2018+) uses the 4B40 1.5T turbocharged MIVEC engine with an 8-speed CVT-TC (torque converter CVT). Turbocharged engine requires 0W-20 or 5W-30 quality oil every 10,000 km. Common concerns: CVT-TC fluid changes every 40,000 km, intercooler hose connections, and 12V battery drain from the keyless system.
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Common Problems Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross GK is powered by the 4B40 1.5T MIVEC turbocharged engine, which can experience intake valve carbon buildup from direct injection use beyond 60,000 km. CVT fluid degradation is another concern — neglecting changes leads to shuddering and hesitation under load. The S-AWC rear coupling on AWD variants requires attention if unusual vibrations appear. Regular servicing keeps these issues in check.
💰Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Repair Cost Malaysia
Repair costs for the Eclipse Cross vary depending on whether you use an authorised Mitsubishi service centre or an independent workshop in Malaysia. Genuine Mitsubishi parts carry a premium, while OEM-equivalent parts from reputable suppliers offer a cost-effective alternative for items like filters, brake pads, and sensors. Turbo-related repairs and CVT servicing tend to be among the higher-cost maintenance items. Getting multiple quotes and using a workshop familiar with the 4B40 engine is advisable.
📅Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Service Schedule Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross 4B40 turbo engine requires engine oil changes every 10,000 km using 0W-20 fully synthetic oil. Minor services cover oil, oil filter, and inspection points, while major services at 40,000 km intervals include CVT fluid, brake fluid, air filter, and spark plug checks. In Malaysia's stop-and-go traffic conditions, it is wise not to extend service intervals beyond manufacturer recommendations. Following the service book protects your warranty and resale value.
🛢️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Engine Oil Guide Malaysia
The 4B40 1.5T MIVEC turbo engine specifies 0W-20 fully synthetic oil, API SN or SP rated, with a total capacity of approximately 4.5 litres including the filter. Change intervals should not exceed 10,000 km — the turbocharger relies on clean, high-quality oil for bearing lubrication. Allow the engine to idle for one to two minutes before shutting off after extended highway or spirited driving to prevent turbo heat soak. Using an inferior grade or extending the interval risks premature turbo wear.
⚙️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross CVT Fluid Service Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross uses an 8-speed virtual-step CVT paired with the 4B40 turbocharged engine, requiring Mitsubishi CVTF J1 or J4 fluid. Change interval is every 40,000 km — the turbo's 250 Nm of torque puts significant strain on the fluid, so quality and timely replacement matter. Symptoms of degraded CVT fluid include shuddering at low speed, delayed engagement, and overheating warnings. Do not substitute generic ATF in place of the specified CVTF.
💨Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Air Filter Replacement Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross 4B40 turbo engine requires a clean air filter to maintain boost pressure and fuel efficiency. Replace the engine air filter every 20,000–40,000 km depending on driving conditions — dusty Malaysian roads can accelerate clogging. A dirty air filter reduces turbo efficiency and increases fuel consumption. OEM-equivalent filters from reputable brands are suitable; aftermarket high-flow filters may affect boost control calibration.
🌡️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Coolant Service Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross uses a long-life coolant; Mitsubishi recommends the first change at 100,000 km or 10 years, then every 50,000 km thereafter. In Malaysia's hot and humid climate, inspecting the coolant level and concentration at every major service is good practice. The 4B40 turbocharged engine generates significant heat — degraded coolant can lead to overheating and radiator corrosion. Always use a coolant compatible with aluminium alloy components.
🛞Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Brake Pad Replacement Malaysia
Brake pad wear on the Eclipse Cross depends heavily on driving habits and urban traffic conditions in Malaysia. The front pads typically wear faster than the rear due to weight distribution. Mitsubishi OEM pads offer a balance of performance and comfort; low-dust or performance aftermarket options are available for owners who prefer them. Always replace pads in axle pairs and inspect the brake disc thickness at the same time.
💿Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Brake Disc Service Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross uses ventilated front discs and solid rear discs. Disc thickness should be measured at every brake pad replacement — discs worn below the minimum specification cause brake fade and should be replaced. In Malaysia, frequent rain exposure can cause surface rust on discs if the car sits idle; this is usually worn off quickly during normal driving. Pairing new pads with worn or scored discs reduces braking effectiveness.
🔵Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Brake Fluid Replacement Malaysia
Brake fluid for the Eclipse Cross should be changed every two years or at 40,000 km intervals. Brake fluid is hygroscopic — it absorbs moisture from the air, which lowers its boiling point and risks brake fade under heavy braking. In Malaysia's humid climate, moisture absorption is faster than in drier countries. Use DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid as specified — do not mix different grades.
🔋Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Battery Replacement Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross requires a battery that supports the S-AWC electronic system, stop-start functions (if equipped), and the turbocharged engine's starting demands. Malaysia's heat accelerates battery degradation — typical battery lifespan here is two to four years. Have the battery tested during each major service; a weak battery can trigger false ECU faults and affect turbo boost control. When replacing, ensure the replacement matches the OEM specifications for cold cranking amps (CCA) and size.
⚡Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Alternator Service Malaysia
The alternator on the Eclipse Cross keeps the battery charged and powers electrical systems including the S-AWC control unit. Warning signs of alternator failure include a battery warning light, dimming headlights, and electrical system instability. Alternator failure is not a routine maintenance item but can occur as mileage increases. Have the charging system tested if any electrical symptoms appear — do not drive with a failing alternator as it may strand you.
❄️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Air Conditioning Service Malaysia
Malaysia's year-round heat makes a well-functioning air conditioning system essential in the Eclipse Cross. Annual servicing should include a cabin filter replacement, condenser cleaning, refrigerant level check, and blower inspection. The Eclipse Cross uses R-134a or R-1234yf refrigerant depending on year — check with your workshop before topping up. A dirty condenser and low refrigerant are the most common causes of weak cooling in Malaysian conditions.
🪤Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Cabin Filter Replacement Malaysia
The cabin air filter in the Eclipse Cross protects passengers from dust, pollen, and pollutants — particularly important in Malaysian urban areas with high particulate levels. Replace the cabin filter every 15,000–20,000 km or annually, whichever comes first. A clogged cabin filter reduces aircon cooling efficiency and causes musty odours from the vents. Some owners upgrade to activated carbon or HEPA-type filters for improved air quality.
🔄Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Tyre Guide Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross GK typically runs on 225/55 R18 tyres. For Malaysian roads, all-season or wet-weather-rated tyres are recommended due to frequent heavy rain. Popular choices among Malaysian Eclipse Cross owners include Michelin Primacy 4, Bridgestone Turanza, and Continental PremiumContact. For AWD variants, ensure all four tyres are the same brand and specification to protect the S-AWC system. Check tyre pressure monthly — the recommended inflation is found on the driver's door jamb sticker.
🎯Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Wheel Alignment Malaysia
Wheel alignment should be checked every 20,000 km or after hitting a pothole, kerb, or significant road hazard — common occurrences on Malaysian roads. Misalignment on the Eclipse Cross causes uneven tyre wear, pulling to one side, and extra stress on the suspension components. The unibody platform and multi-link rear suspension make correct alignment especially important. Always perform alignment after replacing suspension arms or steering components.
🔥Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Spark Plug Replacement Malaysia
The 4B40 1.5T MIVEC engine uses iridium spark plugs with a recommended replacement interval of 60,000 km. NGK or Denso iridium equivalents are commonly used in Malaysia and perform well in turbocharged applications. Worn spark plugs on a turbocharged engine cause misfires, power loss, and can trigger boost-related fault codes. Do not substitute copper plugs as the gap and heat range are optimised for iridium on this engine.
⛓️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Timing Chain Service Malaysia
The 4B40 engine uses a timing chain rather than a timing belt, which is designed to last the life of the engine under normal conditions. There is no scheduled replacement interval for the chain itself, but consistent oil changes with quality 0W-20 fully synthetic oil are critical — oil starved chains stretch prematurely and can cause engine damage. Any unusual rattling noise from the engine on cold start may indicate chain tensioner wear and should be investigated promptly.
🧹Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Carbon Buildup Service Malaysia
The 4B40 is a direct injection turbocharged engine, meaning fuel is injected directly into the cylinder and does not wash the intake valves. This causes carbon deposits to accumulate on intake valves over time — typically becoming noticeable between 60,000 and 80,000 km. Symptoms include rough idle, hesitation during acceleration, and reduced power. Walnut blasting or chemical intake cleaning is the recommended solution. Using quality engine oil and occasional short bursts at operating temperature can slow deposit accumulation.
🔩Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Engine Mount Replacement Malaysia
Engine mounts on the Eclipse Cross absorb vibration from the 4B40 turbocharged engine. Worn mounts cause excessive vibration felt through the cabin, clunking noises during acceleration or gear changes, and increased drivetrain noise. Malaysia's stop-and-go driving accelerates mount wear. Inspect mounts during major services — cracked or collapsed rubber mounts should be replaced promptly to prevent damage to surrounding components.
🏎️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Suspension Service Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension — a setup that delivers a comfortable ride quality superior to body-on-frame SUVs. Shock absorbers typically last 60,000–80,000 km, but Malaysia's pothole-heavy roads can shorten this. Signs of worn shocks include excessive body roll, nose dive under braking, and a bouncy ride. The multi-link rear geometry means alignment should be checked after any rear suspension work.
💻Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Computer Diagnostic Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross ECU monitors a wide range of sensors covering the 4B40 turbo engine, CVT, ABS, S-AWC system, and airbags. A proper diagnostic scan with Mitsubishi-compatible software (such as MUT-III or equivalent OBD-II readers) is essential for accurate fault identification. Generic OBD-II scanners can read basic engine codes but may miss transmission and AWD system faults. For turbo-related codes or CVT issues, always use a workshop with dedicated Mitsubishi diagnostic capability.
🔔Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Service Indicator Reset Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross displays a service reminder indicator on the instrument cluster when a scheduled service is due. After servicing, the indicator must be reset manually — this can typically be done through the instrument cluster menu or via the diagnostic port. If the indicator is not reset after an oil change, it will continue to display incorrectly and may be confused with an actual fault. Confirm the reset procedure with your workshop as the exact method varies slightly by model year.
💧Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Oil Leak Diagnosis Malaysia
Common oil leak points on the Eclipse Cross 4B40 engine include the valve cover gasket (rocker gasket), oil filter housing seals, and crankshaft front seal. Turbo oil feed and return lines should also be inspected at higher mileage. Small leaks in Malaysia's heat tend to accelerate — even a minor seep can become a drip that triggers low oil warnings. Check underneath the car periodically for oil stains and have any identified leaks repaired promptly.
🕹️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Power Steering Service Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross uses an electric power steering (EPS) system, eliminating the need for hydraulic steering fluid. EPS is generally low-maintenance, but faults can appear as a steering warning light, heavy steering, or inconsistent assist. The EPS control module communicates with the S-AWC system on AWD variants — a fault in one can trigger warnings in the other. If the steering feels unexpectedly heavy or the warning light illuminates, a diagnostic scan is the first step.
⛽Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Fuel Economy Tips Malaysia
The 4B40 1.5T turbo engine is designed to balance performance and economy, but driving habits significantly affect real-world fuel consumption in Malaysia. Avoid frequent hard acceleration — the turbo spools up and consumes more fuel when pushed hard. Use Sport mode sparingly, as it holds higher revs and increases fuel use. Maintain correct tyre pressure, as underinflated tyres increase rolling resistance. At highway speeds, keeping below 110 km/h keeps the turbo in its efficient range.
📈Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Resale Value Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross holds reasonable resale value in Malaysia, supported by Mitsubishi's established service network and the model's relatively modern platform. AWD S-AWC variants generally command a premium over FWD versions in the used market. A full service history, especially documented CVT fluid changes, significantly improves buyer confidence and resale price. Well-maintained units with original paint and no accident history are most sought-after.
✅Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Used Car Checklist Malaysia
When buying a used Eclipse Cross in Malaysia, check the CVT fluid condition and service history — neglected fluid is a common issue and expensive to remedy. Inspect the 4B40 turbo engine bay for oil leaks around the valve cover and turbo feed lines. Test the S-AWC system on AWD variants by making tight low-speed turns to feel for drivetrain binding. Request a pre-purchase inspection at a trusted workshop with Mitsubishi diagnostic capability, and verify the service book is stamped.
📖Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Generations Guide Malaysia
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross GK was introduced in 2017 as a compact crossover SUV, reviving the Eclipse nameplate. It is powered exclusively by the 4B40 1.5T MIVEC turbo engine paired with an 8-speed CVT. A facelift was introduced around 2021 with revised exterior styling and interior updates. In Malaysia, the Eclipse Cross is sold in FWD and S-AWC AWD variants. The GK generation represents a significant departure from the previous Eclipse sports coupe heritage, now positioned as a family-friendly urban crossover.
⛽Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Fuel Pump Service Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross uses a high-pressure direct injection fuel system with an in-tank low-pressure fuel pump and an engine-driven high-pressure pump. Fuel pump issues can manifest as hard starting, engine stalling, or loss of power under load — symptoms that can overlap with turbo boost issues. Using quality fuel and not running the tank below a quarter full helps preserve the in-tank pump. Fuel filter inspection should be part of major service intervals.
🔧Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Fuel Injector Service Malaysia
The 4B40 direct injection engine uses high-pressure fuel injectors that spray directly into the combustion chamber. Over time, carbon deposits or injector wear can affect spray pattern, leading to rough idle, misfires, and increased fuel consumption. Injector cleaning can be performed via chemical additives or professional ultrasonic cleaning. A diagnostic scan identifying misfire codes for specific cylinders helps pinpoint which injector is affected. Replacement injectors should match OEM specifications for the direct injection system.
🌡️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Radiator Service Malaysia
The radiator on the Eclipse Cross manages cooling for the 4B40 turbocharged engine. In Malaysia's heat, a partially blocked or leaking radiator can quickly lead to overheating. Common causes of radiator issues include coolant sludge from infrequent changes, physical damage from road debris, and corrosion from using tap water instead of proper coolant. If the temperature gauge climbs above normal or coolant puddles appear under the car, have the cooling system pressure-tested immediately.
🌡️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Thermostat Replacement Malaysia
The thermostat regulates coolant flow to keep the 4B40 engine at its optimal operating temperature. A stuck-open thermostat causes the engine to run cool — reducing efficiency and increasing fuel consumption. A stuck-closed thermostat is more serious and leads to rapid overheating. Thermostat failure is not a scheduled maintenance item but becomes more likely with age and high mileage. Replace the thermostat whenever the cooling system is opened for major repairs.
⚠️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Head Gasket Repair Malaysia
Head gasket failure in the Eclipse Cross 4B40 engine is uncommon when the car is properly maintained, but can occur if the engine has been overheated due to coolant leaks or low coolant levels. Warning signs include white smoke from the exhaust, coolant loss without visible leaks, milky oil on the dipstick, and overheating. Head gasket repair is a major job requiring engine disassembly. Prevent it by keeping coolant at the correct level and addressing any cooling system issues promptly.
🔩Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross CV Joint Service Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross FWD variant uses front CV joints on the driveshafts. The AWD variant additionally has rear driveshafts connecting to the rear differential coupling. CV boot tears are the most common issue — torn boots allow grease to escape and dirt to enter, leading to CV joint wear. A clicking or clunking noise when turning at low speed is a classic sign of a worn CV joint. Inspect CV boots at every major service, especially after driving through flooded areas common in Malaysia.
🪟Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Window Regulator Repair Malaysia
Window regulator issues in the Eclipse Cross typically present as a slow-moving window, window dropping unexpectedly, or grinding noises when operating the power windows. Malaysia's humid climate and frequent rain can accelerate wear on window regulator cables and motor components. The driver's side window regulator tends to see the most use. Replacement involves removing the door trim panel — a straightforward job for an experienced workshop.
🔴Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Check Engine Light Malaysia
The check engine light on the Eclipse Cross can be triggered by a range of issues, from a loose fuel cap to serious turbo or emissions faults. Common turbo-related codes include P0299 (underboost condition), P0234 (overboost), and boost pressure sensor faults. Direct injection carbon buildup can also trigger misfire codes on individual cylinders. Never ignore a flashing check engine light — this indicates an active misfire that can damage the catalytic converter. Have the ECU scanned at a Mitsubishi-capable workshop.
🚨Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross ABS Warning Light Malaysia
An ABS warning light on the Eclipse Cross indicates a fault in the anti-lock braking system, which is integrated with the stability control and S-AWC system on AWD variants. Common causes include a faulty wheel speed sensor, damaged sensor wiring, or ABS module faults. A dirty or cracked wheel speed sensor ring from Malaysia's wet road conditions is a frequent culprit. When the ABS light is on, the ABS and traction control are disabled — brakes still function normally, but a diagnostic scan should be performed promptly.
📋Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 100,000 km Service Malaysia
The 100,000 km service is a significant milestone for the Eclipse Cross. At this interval, the following should be addressed: spark plug replacement (iridium, if not already done at 60,000 km), CVT fluid change, brake fluid flush, coolant replacement, inspection of all suspension bushings and joints, and a thorough check for oil leaks. The timing chain tensioner should be inspected for signs of wear given the direct injection engine's carbon buildup risk. A diagnostic scan covering all modules is recommended.
📄Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Insurance Cost Malaysia
Insurance premiums for the Eclipse Cross in Malaysia are calculated based on the vehicle's sum insured (market value), the owner's no-claim discount (NCD), the coverage type, and the driver's profile. Comprehensive coverage is recommended for a relatively new crossover like the Eclipse Cross. As the vehicle ages and its market value decreases, premiums will naturally reduce. Including add-ons such as windscreen coverage, flood coverage, and special perils is advisable given Malaysia's weather conditions.
💰Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Spare Parts Price Malaysia
Genuine Mitsubishi spare parts for the Eclipse Cross are available through authorised dealers and selected independent suppliers in Malaysia. OEM-equivalent parts from reputable brands offer a cost-effective alternative for wear items such as filters, brake pads, and belts. Turbo-specific components and CVT parts tend to be priced at a premium due to their complexity. Comparing prices between authorised service centres and reputable independent workshops can yield significant savings on labour and non-critical parts.
✅Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Puspakom Inspection Guide Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross must pass Puspakom inspection as part of vehicle ownership transfer or periodic roadworthiness checks in Malaysia. Key inspection points include brake system performance, lighting, tyre condition, structural integrity, and exhaust emissions. The 4B40 turbo engine's emissions must meet Malaysian standards — a well-maintained engine with clean spark plugs and no misfires should pass without issue. Ensure all warning lights are off before the inspection, including the check engine and ABS lights.
💧Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Valve Cover Gasket Replacement Malaysia
The valve cover gasket (rocker gasket) on the 4B40 engine seals the top of the engine against oil leaks. Over time and with heat cycling, this gasket can harden and begin to seep oil — typically noticed as an oily residue around the top of the engine or a burning oil smell from the engine bay. Replacement is a straightforward job and the gasket is an affordable part. Delaying this repair allows oil to drip onto hot components, creating a fire risk.
🔧Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Throttle Body Cleaning Malaysia
The throttle body on the Eclipse Cross 4B40 engine can accumulate carbon deposits over time, leading to rough idle, hesitation, and inconsistent throttle response. Cleaning is recommended at around 60,000 km intervals or whenever idle quality deteriorates. Unlike port-injection engines, the direct injection 4B40 does not benefit from fuel system cleaners passing through the intake, so physical throttle cleaning is more important. An electronic throttle relearn procedure is often required after cleaning.
💡Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Headlight Upgrade Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross comes equipped with LED headlights on higher trim levels and halogen on base variants. Upgrading to LED bulbs on halogen-equipped units improves nighttime visibility — important on Malaysia's unlit rural roads. Any headlight modification must comply with JPJ regulations; incorrectly aimed or excessively bright lights can fail Puspakom inspection. OEM-style LED replacements that maintain factory beam patterns are the safest and most legal upgrade option.
🔄Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Tyre Rotation Malaysia
Tyre rotation on the Eclipse Cross should be performed every 10,000 km to promote even wear across all four tyres. On FWD variants, front tyres carry additional load from the engine and steering, causing them to wear faster. For AWD S-AWC variants, even tyre wear across all four corners is especially important — significant diameter differences can stress the rear coupling and differential. Always rotate according to the tyre manufacturer's recommended pattern for the tyre type fitted.
🌧️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Wiper Blade Replacement Malaysia
Malaysia's heavy monsoon rains make functional wiper blades essential on the Eclipse Cross. Replace wiper blades every six to twelve months, or when streaking, skipping, or squeaking occurs. The Eclipse Cross uses flat (beam) wiper blades that conform better to the curved windscreen than traditional framed wipers. Silicone wiper blades offer better durability in Malaysia's UV-intense conditions. Always replace both front wipers together to ensure consistent visibility.
🔍Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross O2 Sensor Replacement Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross 4B40 engine uses upstream and downstream oxygen sensors to manage fuel mixture and monitor catalytic converter performance. A faulty O2 sensor typically triggers a check engine light with codes in the P0130–P0167 range. Symptoms include increased fuel consumption, rough running, and failed emissions tests. The turbocharged exhaust system exposes sensors to high temperatures, which can shorten their lifespan. Use OEM or OEM-equivalent sensors — cheap universal sensors may cause ongoing ECU calibration issues.
🔩Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Suspension Arm Replacement Malaysia
The Eclipse Cross multi-link rear suspension includes several suspension arms and bushings that can wear over time, particularly on Malaysian roads with frequent potholes and speed bumps. Worn suspension arm bushings cause imprecise handling, unusual tyre wear, and knocking noises over bumps. Replacement of individual arms or complete arm assemblies is the typical repair. Always perform a four-wheel alignment after any suspension arm replacement to restore correct geometry.
🗂️Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Workshop Case Studies Malaysia
At 4M Car Care in Malaysia, our technicians have handled a range of Eclipse Cross GK cases. Case 1: A 2019 Eclipse Cross AWD came in with CVT shuddering at low speed and hesitation under load at 65,000 km. Inspection revealed the CVT fluid had never been changed despite the 40,000 km service interval. A full CVT fluid drain and refill with Mitsubishi CVTF J4 resolved the shuddering completely. Case 2: A 2020 Eclipse Cross FWD reported rough idle and a P0301 misfire code on cylinder one at 72,000 km. Carbon buildup on the intake valves from the direct injection 4B40 engine was diagnosed. Walnut blasting of the intake valves restored smooth idle and throttle response. Case 3: A 2018 Eclipse Cross AWD at 88,000 km showed a P0299 underboost fault code alongside reduced power on highways. Investigation found the turbo intercooler hose had developed a small crack, causing boost pressure loss. Replacing the hose and clearing the code resolved the issue without a turbo replacement. Case 4: A 2021 Eclipse Cross FWD presented with burning oil smell and visible oil seeping around the valve cover at 55,000 km in a high-mileage Klang Valley daily driver. The valve cover gasket had hardened and started weeping. A new OEM gasket and a fresh engine oil service resolved the leak, and the customer was advised to keep oil change intervals strictly at 10,000 km to protect the turbocharger.
