Honda City Brake Pad Replacement — When & Cost Malaysia
Squealing brakes or poor stopping power on your Honda City? Learn the 6 signs it's time to replace, and what it costs in Malaysia.

Honda City brake pads directly affect safety. Worn pads will damage the brake disc, doubling the repair cost. Here is how to judge whether yours need replacing.
Honda City brake pad lifespan
Front pads: 40,000–60,000 km (city stop-start driving wears them faster). Rear pads (disc-brake GN2): 60,000–80,000 km. These are guidelines only — driving style has a big impact.
6 signs it's time to replace
1. High-pitched squealing when braking — the metal wear indicator is contacting the disc.
2. Grinding, scraping sound when braking — the pad is already cutting into the disc.
3. Brake warning light on the dashboard (on models with wear sensors).
4. The pedal needs to be pressed further than before to stop.
5. Visually, pad thickness is less than 3mm.
6. The car pulls to one side when braking.
Replacement cost (Malaysia)
Front pads, both wheels (OEM-grade aftermarket, including labour): RM180–RM300. Honda genuine pads: approx RM200–RM350 (parts only). If the discs also need replacing: add RM200–RM450 for a front pair.
What to check at the same time
Check disc thickness and runout at the same visit — if the disc is too thin or warped, replace it together to save labour costs.
After installing new pads, a bedding-in run is recommended: on an open road, brake progressively from 60 kph down to 10 kph, repeat 5–8 times to seat the pads against the disc.
