N55 Plug Access
The N55's spark plugs are accessible from the top of the engine after removing the engine cover and coil packs. The procedure is straightforward but requires a torque wrench — BMW specifies 25 Nm for iridium plugs. Over-tightening strips the aluminium head threads. Never use cheap non-iridium plugs in a turbo BMW — they cannot withstand the combustion pressures and will misfire under boost.
