BMW blue HT-12 coolant only — change every 4 years or 80,000 km. F10 N20 and G30 B48/B58 all use electric water pump. Failure causes rapid overheating. Expansion tank cracks on F10. Malaysia cost RM 300–500. Never mix with other antifreeze.

G30 Cooling System Complexity
The G30 cooling system has both an electric water pump and an electric thermostat — both controlled by the DME. After any coolant work (hose replacement, flush, thermostat), ISTA is required to bleed the system and clear any pump or thermostat fault codes. A manual bleed alone is insufficient on the G30. Always ask if the workshop has ISTA before coolant work.
