Hydraulic mounts on all F10/G30 — 80,000–120,000 km lifespan. Signs: vibration at idle, thump on acceleration. G30 530d/540d (diesel — not Malaysia) add torque strut. Malaysia replacement RM 600–1,000/pair.

Diagnosis
At 4M Car Care we check engine mounts by placing our hands on the engine at idle and feeling for excessive movement. Healthy mounts allow 5–10mm of movement. Failed hydraulic mounts allow 30mm+ of rocking. The gearbox mount can be checked by placing the car in drive on level ground with foot on brake — the engine rocks backward if the mount is failed. Do not delay mount replacement on the 5 Series — transmission component wear accelerates with a failed mount.
