DOT 4 — CBS tracks brake fluid and prompts change every 2 years. 5 Series weight means braking generates more heat — on-schedule fluid changes are important. Malaysia cost RM 180–300.

High-Speed Braking Consideration
The 5 Series is frequently driven at Malaysian highway speeds (110–130 km/h). A sudden emergency stop from these speeds generates significant heat in the brake fluid. Old, moisture-saturated DOT 4 can boil under these conditions, causing the pedal to go soft. On a heavier car like the 5 Series, this is a more serious safety risk than on a lighter hatchback. Never exceed the 2-year fluid change interval.
