Toyota Alphard Spark Plug Replacement — When & Cost (Malaysia)
Alphard 2AR-FE uses 4 iridium spark plugs — DENSO SK16HR11. Change every 60,000–80,000 km. Worn plugs cause sluggish pull-away, rough idle and higher fuel consumption in a heavy MPV.

Alphard owners sometimes ask why they feel a slight drop in response when the car gets older — one of the most common reasons is worn spark plugs. The 2AR-FE's iridium plugs have a long service life, but they do eventually wear, and on a heavy MPV like the Alphard, the effect on pull-away performance is noticeable.
Spark Plug Specification — DENSO SK16HR11
The 2AR-FE uses DENSO SK16HR11 iridium spark plugs — 4 cylinders, 4 plugs total. NGK ILZKAR7A11 is the cross-reference equivalent. Plug gap: 1.0–1.1mm (factory set, do not adjust iridium plugs). Replacement interval: every 60,000–80,000 km. Signs that plugs need replacing: sluggish acceleration from standstill, slight rough idle, fuel consumption increase of 5–10%. Cost at our Bandar Sri Damansara workshop: RM 300–420 for a full set of 4 iridium plugs with fitting.
