Toyota Alphard Air Filter Replacement Guide (Malaysia)
Alphard 2.5L air filter should be changed every 30,000 km — or 15,000 km if you drive through construction areas. A clogged air filter robs the heavy MPV of response at highway merges.

The engine air filter is one of the cheapest maintenance items on the Alphard — but a clogged filter in a heavy 1,900 kg MPV is felt immediately at highway entry ramps and overtaking. The 2AR-FE needs unrestricted airflow to maintain its smooth power delivery.
Replacement Interval & Signs of a Clogged Filter
Standard replacement: every 30,000 km. If you regularly drive through construction zones or dusty roads (common around Kepong, Sungai Buloh and Sri Damansara areas), replace at 15,000–20,000 km. Signs of a clogged air filter: loss of power when accelerating, slightly rough idle, ECU may trigger a rich fuel mixture (black smoke). Visual inspection: hold the filter up to light — if no light passes through, replace it. Cost: RM 60–120 for a quality replacement filter.
