Toyota Alphard Coolant Guide — Engine & Inverter Cooling (Malaysia)
Alphard hybrid has TWO coolant circuits — engine coolant (Toyota SLLC, pink) and inverter coolant (Toyota Genuine Inverter Coolant, pink/purple). They must never be mixed. Full guide.

Alphard coolant maintenance is more complex than a standard petrol car — especially for the hybrid variant, which has two separate cooling circuits that require different products and must never be mixed. Understanding the difference can save you from an expensive repair.
Engine Coolant — Toyota SLLC (Pink)
Both H30 petrol and hybrid Alphard use Toyota Super Long Life Coolant (SLLC) — pink in colour, pre-diluted 50/50. Capacity: approximately 8.0L. Change interval: first change at 160,000 km or 8 years, then every 80,000 km or 4 years. Do not top up with plain water — always use pre-diluted SLLC or mix genuine Toyota concentrated coolant 50/50 with distilled water. Plain water dilutes the corrosion inhibitors and accelerates radiator and water pump wear.
Inverter Coolant — Hybrid Variant Only
The hybrid Alphard has a completely separate cooling circuit for the power electronics (inverter, converter). This uses Toyota Genuine Inverter Coolant — also pink/purple, but with a different formulation optimised for electronics cooling. It must never be mixed with engine SLLC. The inverter coolant reservoir is typically located near the hybrid battery compartment. Change interval: every 160,000 km or 8 years. Many workshops skip this — we always check it at Bandar Sri Damansara.
