A 15-minute maintenance routine every 20,000 km can add years to the door mechanism's life and save RM 500–1,500 in repairs.
What Wears Out First
- Lower rail nylon rollers: accumulate grime and dry out in Malaysia's heat, causing motor overload
- Upper guide channel: debris causes binding and jerky door operation
- B-pillar striker latch: lubricant dries out causing slow or incomplete latching
- Cable and motor assembly: overloaded when rollers stick — repairs cost RM 500–1,200
20,000 km Maintenance Checklist
- Clean the lower rail channel with a lint-free cloth — remove all debris and old grease
- Apply silicone-based grease (not WD-40) to the roller wheels and lower rail — lasts longer in heat
- Apply a thin layer of white lithium grease to the upper guide channel
- Lubricate the door striker and B-pillar latch mechanism with door lubricant spray
- Operate the door 5–6 times at full travel to distribute lubricant evenly
