Toyota Alphard Cabin Filter — Front & Rear Both Need Changing
Alphard has separate front and rear cabin filters. Most owners only change the front — leaving the rear filter mouldy and causing musty smell for rear passengers. How to do both correctly.
Alphard has two cabin air filter positions — one for the front evaporator unit and one for the rear. This is where most owners make a mistake: they only change the front and forget the rear. The result is that second and third-row passengers breathe through a mouldy filter while the front occupants enjoy clean filtered air.
Location & Replacement Interval
Front cabin filter: located behind the glove box — accessible by removing the glove box panel. Rear cabin filter: located in the rear roof area or rear evaporator unit access panel (location varies slightly between H30 and H40). Replace both every 15,000–20,000 km in Malaysia's dusty urban environment — or every 10,000 km if you frequently carry children (more breathing activity = filter clogs faster). Cost: front filter RM 50–80, rear filter RM 50–80. Do both at every change — never just one.
