The Civic 1.5T VTEC Turbo runs NGK SILZKBR8D8S iridium plugs — a fine-wire iridium plug designed for this direct-injection turbocharged engine. Don't substitute with cheaper copper plugs; they won't last and may affect combustion under boost.
Replacement interval and cost
NGK SILZKBR8D8S iridium plugs are rated for 80,000–100,000 km. In Malaysian conditions (high heat, city driving), inspect at 60,000 km and replace by 80,000 km at the latest. A set of 4 with labour costs RM220–RM350 at an independent workshop.
Signs of worn spark plugs
Rough idle, hesitation on acceleration, reduced fuel economy, or an occasional misfire — these all point to worn plugs. The 1.5T is sensitive to plug condition because it runs a high compression ratio with boost.
