The Civic 1.5T uses Honda Blue coolant (Type 2). Mixed cooling system maintenance is critical in Malaysia's heat — the turbo generates significant heat and relies on the cooling system to prevent long-term damage.
Flush interval and procedure
Flush every 3 years or 60,000 km, whichever comes first. Honda Blue Type 2 should not be mixed with red or green coolants — always flush completely before refilling.
Coolant service at independent workshop: RM80–RM130 including genuine Honda coolant. Always use genuine Honda Blue — generic universal coolant can cause silicone gasket swelling in Honda engines over time.
