Honda Civic CVT Fluid Change Malaysia — When & Cost
Honda HCF-2 CVT fluid for the Civic — change interval, signs of worn fluid, and DIY vs workshop cost in Malaysia.
The Honda Civic FC and FE both use a CVT with Honda HCF-2 fluid. Unlike older Honda CVT fluid (HMMF), HCF-2 is the newer spec designed for improved efficiency and durability — do not substitute with generic CVT fluid.
Change interval and cost
Change HCF-2 every 40,000–60,000 km. At an independent workshop in Malaysia, a CVT drain-and-fill with HCF-2 costs RM280–RM420 all-in. We recommend a drain-and-fill (not flush) to avoid disturbing any sediment that has settled.
Signs that CVT fluid is due
Slight shudder when accelerating from low speed, especially in the 20–50 km/h range. Delayed response or rough engagement between Park and Drive. Dark, brownish CVT fluid colour when checked.
