Honda Civic FC and FE use Electric Power Steering (EPS) — no hydraulic fluid, no belt-driven pump. The EPS motor and control unit are located on the steering rack. EPS issues are rare on Civics but do occur on high-mileage units or after battery replacement.
Common EPS faults and costs
EPS warning light or power steering loss after battery disconnect or replacement — usually resolved by steering initialization (steering full lock left, then right, then centre with engine running). If the EPS motor itself fails, replacement cost is RM800–RM1,500 including labour.
