Warped brake discs cause steering wheel vibration when braking — a very common complaint on Civics that are driven hard or have had sudden water contact on hot discs (driving through puddles). The 1.5T Civic FC RS and FE RS are particularly prone due to their larger ventilated discs running hotter from performance-oriented driving.
Resurfacing vs replacement
If the disc has sufficient thickness, resurfacing (disc machining) can correct minor warping and costs RM60–RM120 per disc. But if discs are near minimum thickness or grooved, replacement is better value. Replacement disc: RM120–RM230 per piece inc. labour.
