Toyota Rush Timing Chain Guide
Rush 2NR-VE uses a timing chain, not a belt — no scheduled replacement required. Regular oil changes every 10,000 km keep the chain tensioner healthy.

Rush Timing Chain — Maintenance-Free But Oil-Dependent
Rush 2NR-VE uses a timing chain — no scheduled belt replacement. The chain is designed to last the engine's lifetime. However, oil sludge from infrequent oil changes accelerates chain and tensioner wear. The first symptom is a rattle on cold start (< 10 seconds). If this develops, don't delay — continued rattling leads to timing loss and potential piston-valve contact. Oil change every 5,000 km is the single best prevention. If chain replacement is needed: RM 1,500–2,500.
