Toyota Rush Carbon Cleaning Guide
Rush 2NR-VE uses port injection — carbon build-up on intake valves is minimal. Carbon cleaning needed only if idle is rough past 80,000 km with irregular oil changes.

Rush Carbon Cleaning — VVT-i Intake Deposits
The 2NR-VE uses port fuel injection (not direct injection) which means fuel washes the intake valves on every cycle — carbon build-up is less severe than GDI engines. However, low-quality fuel and short city trips still cause gradual deposits in the intake manifold and throttle body. Clean the throttle body every 40,000 km (RM 60–100). Full intake cleaning for severe cases: RM 200–350. Signs of carbon build-up: rough idle, hesitation when pulling away from standstill.
