Rush alternator typically lasts 150,000–180,000 km. Failure signs: battery warning light, dimming dashboard or lights, A/C stopping working suddenly (compressor draws max current when alternator is failing and the ECU disconnects non-critical loads). Alternator output should be 13.8–14.5V with the engine running. Replacement cost: RM 500–900 for a remanufactured alternator, RM 800–1,300 for OEM.
