Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Battery Replacement Malaysia
Prado uses two batteries in some configurations — main 80D26R and sub 46B24R. Failing to replace both creates starting issues.
Prado 1GD-FTV requires a heavy-duty 80Ah–100Ah battery to crank the diesel engine — especially important in Malaysia's humid conditions where diesel starting resistance is higher. The Prado also has extensive electronics (KDSS, Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Select) that drain the battery.
Battery Replacement
- Recommended: Amaron Hi-Life 100D26L or Panasonic Caos 100D26L — correct size for Prado engine bay
- Battery replacement cost: RM 400–650 installed — include terminal cleaning and ECU reset
- Replace every 3–4 years — do not wait for signs of weakness on a diesel; hard cold-cranking failure is abrupt
