Fortuner diesel engines produce more vibration than petrol engines — combined with towing stress and heavy load vibration, engine mounts wear faster. Inspect at 80,000 km. Signs: vibration at idle that transmits to steering column and floor, clunk when changing gears or engaging 4WD. Fortuner typically has 3 engine mounts + a transmission mount. Cost: RM 250–500 each. At our workshop, we recommend checking all mounts simultaneously to avoid returning for a second job.
