Fortuner Air Filter — Protecting the VGT Turbo
Both 2GD-FTV and 1GD-FTV use a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT). Clean air is critical — a partially clogged filter reduces boost and forces the turbo to compensate. In dusty environments (Kepong, Sungai Buloh construction areas), inspect at every service and replace every 30,000 km instead of 40,000 km. Signs of restricted airflow: slower throttle response, black smoke under hard acceleration. OEM part ~RM 80–130.
