The Subaru XV uses a Lineartronic CVT requiring Subaru CVTF HT II or an approved equivalent — do not use generic CVT fluid. Change interval is every 40,000 km; neglecting this is the leading cause of Lineartronic shudder, a telltale judder felt during light acceleration.
