Subaru XV Coolant Service Malaysia
Subaru XV uses a long-life coolant (Super Coolant) — the first change is recommended at 110,000 km or 11 years, then every 55,000 km or 5.5 years thereafter. In Malaysia's hot climate, inspect the coolant level and condition regularly. The FB20 boxer engine can be sensitive to overheating; a degraded coolant increases head gasket risk. Always use Subaru-approved coolant or a compatible aluminium-safe product.
Subaru XV Coolant
- XV FB20/FB16 e-Boxer: Subaru Super Coolant blue; e-Boxer hybrid has two coolant circuits — main engine circuit and inverter cooling loop (uses separate coolant); never confuse the two
- XV coolant change: first at 100,000 km, then every 50,000 km; check coolant level monthly; if XV shows temperature rising in KL stop-go traffic, first check coolant level and coolant fan operation
- XV thermostat: if XV runs consistently hot after 80,000 km — suspect thermostat before coolant; thermostat stuck closed causes rapid overheating; Subaru thermostat is inexpensive to replace
- XV coolant specification: use only OEM or compatible long-life coolant; never use just plain water even temporarily in Malaysia heat — engine damage within days
