Subaru XV Throttle Body Cleaning Malaysia
Throttle body carbon deposits on the Subaru XV FB20 typically appear at 60,000–80,000 km. Symptoms include rough idle, hesitation on light throttle inputs, and slightly reduced fuel economy. The cleaning procedure involves removing the throttle body or cleaning it in-situ with throttle body cleaner. After cleaning, an idle relearn procedure should be performed to allow the ECU to recalibrate. This is an inexpensive service with a noticeable improvement in throttle response.

Subaru XV Throttle Body Cleaning
- XV throttle body: FB20/FB16 same drive-by-wire throttle as Forester; same carbon buildup pattern from PCV gases; clean at 60,000 km; e-Boxer FB16 throttle body cleaning procedure identical to non-hybrid FB16
- XV idle issue diagnosis: if XV has rough idle or surging — first check throttle body cleanliness; also check MAF sensor for contamination; dirty MAF on FB20 causes lean condition code and idle problems; clean MAF with MAF cleaner spray (do not use throttle cleaner on MAF)
