Subaru XV Suspension Arm Malaysia

The Subaru XV uses MacPherson struts at the front with lower control arms, and a double-wishbone rear suspension with upper and lower arms. Suspension arm bushings and ball joints are the most common wear items in Malaysian conditions. A worn lower control arm bushing causes imprecise steering and tyre wear. Clunking over bumps and uneven tyre wear are signs to inspect the suspension arms. Replacement with quality aftermarket arms is acceptable for the XV.

  • XV GH/GP front lower control arm: similar bushing wear timeline to Forester; urban road use accelerates bushing fatigue from potholes and road debris; XV is lighter than Forester so arm stress is slightly lower but bushing rubber degrades from Malaysia heat regardless of load
  • XV rear lateral arm: XV rear multi-link also has lateral arm bushings; rear bushing failure less common than front but possible at 100,000+ km; rear bushing failure causes tyre toe change on bump — causes rear end instability at highway speed
  • XV e-Boxer suspension arms: e-Boxer XV has rear electric motor adding weight at rear subframe; rear suspension arms and bushings under slightly higher stress from rear motor weight; inspect rear bushings from 80,000 km on e-Boxer variants
