Subaru XV Spark Plug Replacement Malaysia
The Subaru XV FB20 uses four iridium spark plugs positioned on top of the boxer engine's cylinder banks. Replace every 60,000 km. Worn spark plugs cause misfires, reduced fuel economy, and rough idle. The boxer engine layout means plug access is on the top of the engine, which is relatively straightforward. Always use iridium plugs to the correct heat range specified for the FB20.

Subaru XV Spark Plugs
- XV spark plugs: FB20 or FB16 e-Boxer — iridium; replace every 100,000 km; city driving with frequent cold starts is harder on plugs but iridium design handles this well
- XV plug fouling: carbon fouling if engine has extended idle periods or short trips; iridium plugs resist fouling better than copper; if XV has rough idle below 80,000 km, diagnose injectors or MAF before plugs
- XV torque spec: use torque wrench on spark plugs — FB20 aluminium head; overtightening cracks the head or strips threads; correct torque typically 18–22 Nm for iridium plugs
- XV e-Boxer OEM plug spec: confirm part number by VIN or model year; wrong plug heat range on e-Boxer causes cold-start misfires which can trigger hybrid system faults
