Subaru XV Workshop Case Studies Malaysia
Case studies from 4M Car Care, Kuala Lumpur. Case 1: A 2019 Subaru XV GT (55,000 km) came in with a characteristic Lineartronic CVT shudder during light acceleration — the CVT fluid had never been changed. Drain-and-fill of the Lineartronic CVTF HT II resolved the shudder immediately; the customer was advised to change it every 40,000 km going forward. Case 2: A 2015 Subaru XV GP (92,000 km) showed oil seeps at the bottom of the engine. Inspection revealed both left and right rocker cover gaskets were weeping. Both were replaced together in one job, and the engine bay cleaned. Case 3: A 2020 XV GT (68,000 km) had a rough idle and hesitation on light throttle — throttle body carbon buildup was found. After throttle body cleaning and an ECU idle relearn, the vehicle ran smoothly. Case 4: A 2018 XV GT owner reported pulling to the left after hitting a large pothole on the LDP highway. A four-wheel alignment check showed the rear toe was out of specification. Alignment was corrected and all four tyres were rotated given uneven wear found.

XV FB16 CVT Service + AWD Check — Sri Damansara
A 2018 Subaru XV at 63,000 km had CVT judder and a mismatch in front tyre tread (one replaced earlier). CVT fluid was changed (Subaru TR580 spec, two cycles), oil change (5W-30 full synthetic). The tyre mismatch was flagged — two front tyres replaced to match the rear pair. Post-service: CVT judder resolved, AWD operation confirmed normal. Owner briefed on the all-4-tyres-together rule for future replacements.
