BMW X1 Oil Leak Malaysia — B38/B48 Common Points
B38 3-cylinder: timing cover gasket, oil separator hose (common). B48: cam cover gasket, oil separator hose, turbo oil feed. Compact engine bay makes leak location easier to spot. Malaysia repair RM 300–800. Oil on DCT actuator sensors causes DCT faults — diagnose oil leaks first.

Oil Leak Points — F48 X1
- B38: oil separator hose connections, valve cover gasket
- B48: oil separator (most common), cam cover gasket
- DCT: weeping from input shaft seal on high-mileage units
- xDrive transfer case: rear output shaft seal — RM 150–300 early; RM 2,500–4,000 if run dry
X1 Leak Checklist at 80,000+ km
On an F48 X1 with 80,000+ km, a comprehensive visual under-car inspection should cover: engine oil (separator hose, cam cover), DCT input shaft seal (fluid seeping at gearbox/engine join), and on xDrive models, the transfer case rear output seal. Transfer case leaks typically appear as a small oil residue on the underfloor directly behind the transfer case housing. Detect early (RM 150–300 seal job) or ignore and face a transfer case failure (RM 2,500–4,000).
