The B38 X1 combines the 3-cylinder's inherent primary imbalance with the SUV body's greater weight — more stress on the engine mounts than in the lighter F20 116i. Recommend visual mount inspection at every service from 80,000 km onward. Symptoms of failing mounts: increased vibration at idle, clunk when selecting D or R, vibration felt through the seat at traffic lights.
