Alternator — Early Detection
The F48 X1 alternator runs under higher load than the 1 Series due to the AWD electrics on xDrive models. At 4M Car Care, we measure charging voltage at every oil service — this early warning catches alternator deterioration before the battery flattens. Target voltage: 14.2–14.8V at idle. Below 13.8V triggers an ISTA alternator current output test.
