BMW 3 Series N20 Timing Chain Malaysia — Critical Warning
N20 timing chain is the single most dangerous known issue on F30. Primary chain stretch causes guide failure, then catastrophic engine damage if not caught. Cold-start rattle for 2+ seconds is the warning sign. Replace chain, guides and tensioner together — Malaysia cost RM 3,000–5,000.

What To Do If You Hear Rattling
If your F30 N20 rattles on cold start, do not keep driving hoping it goes away. Bring it to us immediately. If the chain jumps a tooth, it can bend valves and require a full engine rebuild at RM 20,000+. An early chain replacement at RM 4,000 is the far better option. We will confirm chain condition via oil pressure test and visual inspection with a borescope.
