When to Replace
The hydraulic mounts contain fluid that dampens vibration. When the mount cracks or leaks, the fluid escapes and the rubber collapses, transmitting engine vibration directly into the cabin. You will feel this as a 3–4 Hz tremor at idle that disappears at driving speed. A simple check: open the bonnet at idle and look for excessive engine rocking — if the engine moves more than 20mm, the mounts are gone.
