Yaris petrol uses 34B19R lightweight battery. Hybrid Yaris has both 12V auxiliary battery and high-voltage battery. 12V failure = car won't start. Life 3–5 years.
Yaris 12V Battery — Hybrid Has Two Batteries
All Yaris models (petrol and hybrid) have a standard 12V starting battery: NS40 or 55B24L. In the Yaris Hybrid, this 12V battery is kept charged by the hybrid system (not an alternator) — but it still ages and loses capacity. If the 12V battery dies, the hybrid system cannot start (the hybrid power control unit draws from the 12V battery to power up before the high-voltage circuit comes online). Replace the 12V battery every 4 years regardless of perceived condition. Cost: RM 180–280.
