Yaris petrol CVT uses Toyota Genuine CVT Fluid TC. Hybrid uses e-CVT Transaxle Fluid FV. Change every 60,000 km. Low-speed shudder is the main symptom of degraded fluid.
Yaris CVT Fluid — Toyota CVT Fluid TC
Yaris petrol uses a steel-belt CVT (K120 unit from Aisin). Fluid: Toyota CVT Fluid TC — a dedicated formula that cannot be substituted with generic ATF. Capacity: ~5L for drain-and-fill. Change every 40,000–60,000 km. Using wrong fluid causes belt slippage, shudder, and rapid CVT wear. The Yaris Hybrid uses e-CVT (planetary gear-based motor-generator system with Transaxle Fluid FV) — this is a separate service.
