Toyota Yaris Alternator Guide
Yaris petrol has a conventional alternator. Hybrid Yaris has no alternator — 12V battery charged by DC-DC converter from the HV battery. Failure modes differ.

Yaris Alternator — Petrol Only, Hybrid Uses MG1
Yaris petrol: standard belt-driven alternator, life 150,000–180,000 km. Signs of failure: battery light, dimming dashboard, alternator whine from belt area. Replacement: RM 450–800. Yaris Hybrid: no conventional alternator — Motor-Generator 1 (MG1) performs charging when the petrol engine is running. MG1 failure is rare but symptoms are the same as alternator failure: 12V battery depleting, warning lights. MG1 replacement or rebuild: RM 2,500–5,000 (dealer job, high-voltage system).
