Vellfire's power sliding door uses the same mechanism as the Alphard — and the same preventive maintenance schedule applies. Regular lubrication every 20,000 km prevents the majority of motor and rail failures. Given that sliding door repair is one of the most expensive Vellfire workshop jobs, this 15-minute routine is excellent value.
What Wears Out First
- Lower rail nylon rollers: grime accumulation and heat drying cause motor overload — most common failure point
- Upper guide channel: debris causes the door to bind and jerk during operation
- B-pillar striker latch: dried lubricant causes slow or failed latching
- Motor and cable assembly: overloads when rollers stick, causing early failure — RM 500–1,200 to replace
20,000 km Maintenance Steps
- Clean the lower rail with a lint-free cloth — remove all debris and dried grease
- Apply silicone grease (not WD-40) to rollers and the lower rail
- Apply white lithium grease to the upper guide channel
- Lubricate the door striker and B-pillar latch with door lubricant spray
- Cycle the door fully 5–6 times to distribute lubricant throughout the mechanism
