Vellfire 2AR-FE uses 0W-20 SP full synthetic (5.0L). H40 2.4T uses 0W-20 SP (5.5L). Why thicker oil like 5W-30 actually harms VVT-i performance in Malaysian conditions.

Vellfire H30 (2AR-FE, 2.5L port injection hybrid): use Toyota Genuine 0W-20 SP engine oil. Capacity is 5.0L with filter. H40 (T24A-FTS, 2.4L turbocharged hybrid): same 0W-20 SP spec but larger 5.5L capacity due to the turbo's oiling demands. Never use 5W-30 or 10W-30 — the 2AR-FE and T24A-FTS are designed specifically for 0W-20 low-viscosity oil to enable fuel economy and protect the hybrid system components.
Oil Change Interval
Change every 10,000 km or 6 months — whichever comes first. On the H40 turbo model, Toyota recommends 5,000 km intervals if you do frequent short trips under 5 km or regular towing. The turbo generates heat and soot faster under these conditions, degrading oil more quickly. Use only Toyota Genuine, Castrol Edge 0W-20, or Mobil 1 0W-20 Full Synthetic — all API SP certified.
