Toyota Vellfire Carbon Cleaning — Does the 2AR-FE Need It?
Vellfire 2AR-FE is port-injected (PFI) — much slower carbon build-up than direct-injection engines. When cleaning is actually needed, cost, and the H40 turbo direct-injection situation.

Vellfire Carbon Cleaning Guide
Vellfire H30 (2AR-FE) uses port fuel injection — fuel washes the intake valves on every cycle, preventing carbon buildup. Carbon cleaning is not required at normal service intervals. Vellfire H40 (T24A-FTS) uses direct injection where fuel is injected directly into the cylinder, bypassing the intake valves. Carbon buildup on H40 intake valves accumulates over time — inspection recommended at 80,000 km, walnut blasting cleaning at 100,000–120,000 km.
- H30 (2AR-FE port injection): carbon cleaning NOT required
- H40 (T24A-FTS direct injection): walnut blasting at 100,000–120,000 km
- Cost of walnut blast cleaning: RM 500–900 at our workshop
