Brake disc rust is more prevalent on the Vellfire Hybrid than on conventional petrol cars — the regenerative braking system reduces friction brake use, so discs don't self-clean through regular use. Surface rust after parking overnight is normal and clears after a few brake applications. But if rust pitting appears (rough surface texture visible, deep spots), the disc must be replaced — pitted discs cannot be machined flat. Disc minimum thickness: front 26 mm (new 28 mm), rear 16 mm (new 18 mm).
