Vellfire 12V Battery Guide
Vellfire Hybrid has both a high-voltage hybrid battery and a conventional 12V auxiliary battery. The 12V battery powers the car's electrical systems (lights, power sliding doors, ECU, security system) when the hybrid system is off. If the 12V battery dies, the Vellfire will not power on at all — the hybrid system cannot start without the 12V to wake the ECU. Typical 12V battery life: 3–5 years. OEM Toyota battery is 80D26R or S55D23L depending on variant.
- OEM 12V battery (80D26R): RM 350–500 fitted
- Aftermarket AGM (recommended for hybrid): Panasonic or Bosch Silver, RM 280–420
- Signs of failing 12V battery: power doors slow to open, sluggish ECU response, random warning lights
- Check and test at every 10,000 km service after 3 years of battery age
