Oil leaks on Toyota Camry are uncommon at low mileage but become more frequent above 150,000 km. The most important rule: identify the source before spending on parts — multiple leaks can look like one.
Common Oil Leak Locations
- 1. Valve cover / cam cover gasket — most common; seeps along top of engine
- 2. Oil pan gasket — seeps along bottom of engine; leaves puddle under car
- 3. Oil filter housing O-ring — easy fix; oil drips down block
- 4. Valve stem seals — causes blue smoke on startup, oil consumption
- 5. Rear main seal — leaks near transmission, noticeable under flywheel area
Repair Costs
- Valve cover gasket: RM 150–280 (parts + labour)
- Oil filter housing O-ring: RM 60–120
- Oil pan gasket: RM 200–350 (requires draining oil and removing pan)
