Toyota Camry CVT / ATF Fluid Guide Malaysia
XV50 Camry uses ATF WS (6-speed auto); XV70 uses CVT Fluid TC (Direct Shift CVT). Wrong fluid in either causes serious damage. Costs and change intervals inside.

One of the most common mistakes Camry owners make is not knowing which transmission fluid their car uses — or worse, using the wrong one. Getting this wrong causes expensive damage.
XV50 (2012–2017): 6-Speed Automatic — ATF WS
- Fluid: Toyota ATF World Standard (WS)
- Capacity: approx. 7.8L (full refill); drain-and-fill: 3.5–4L
- Change interval: every 40,000–60,000 km (Malaysia conditions)
- Cost: RM 220–280 at independent workshop
XV70 (2018–present): Direct Shift CVT — CVT Fluid TC
- Fluid: Toyota Genuine CVT Fluid TC (purple label)
- Capacity: approx. 7.4L; drain-and-fill: 3.5–4L
- Change interval: every 40,000–60,000 km
- Cost: RM 280–350 at independent workshop
Symptoms of Degraded Fluid
- Shudder or judder under 40 km/h (CVT)
- Delayed engagement when shifting to D or R
- Slipping sensation on acceleration
- Whining noise from gearbox
Never use generic ATF or multi-vehicle CVT fluid in a Toyota Camry. The XV70 CVT Fluid TC is specially formulated for the chain-type Direct Shift CVT and substitutes cause shudder and premature wear.
