Toyota Camry A/C Not Cold — Causes & Fixes (Malaysia)
5 most common reasons Camry A/C loses cooling: low refrigerant, clogged cabin filter, mouldy evaporator, weak compressor, blocked condenser. Diagnosis and costs inside.

A Camry that blows warm air is one of the most common complaints we handle at our Puchong workshop. In most cases the fix is straightforward — but diagnosing the correct cause first saves money.
5 Most Common Causes
- 1. Low refrigerant (R134a leak) — most common; A/C blows cool but not cold
- 2. Clogged cabin filter — reduces airflow, makes A/C feel weak
- 3. Mouldy evaporator — musty smell + reduced cooling
- 4. Weak or failing compressor — A/C works intermittently or not at all
- 5. Blocked condenser (front grille area) — reduced heat dissipation
Diagnosis Steps
- Check cabin filter first — free visual inspection
- Measure vent temperature with thermometer (should be 8–12°C)
- Workshop refrigerant pressure test: RM 30–60
Camry A/C refrigerant top-up costs RM 80–120. If there is a leak, finding and sealing it first (RM 150–300) is essential — otherwise the gas will simply leak out again.
