The S-Class has a dual-zone or tri-zone climate system with front and rear evaporators. Malaysia's heat means the system runs almost continuously. Rear passenger compartment air con maintenance is often overlooked — a second set of filters and evaporator coil exist behind the rear seat.
Service Checklist
- Front cabin filters (2 units): replace annually — RM 150–250 for both
- Rear cabin filter: replace every 2 years
- Front evaporator clean: every 2 years to prevent mould
- Rear evaporator clean: often overlooked — do every 3 years
- Refrigerant check: S-Class uses large volume R-134a — low charge is noticeable as rear cooling drops first
