Mercedes-Benz GLE Timing Chain — M276/M256 Reliability Malaysia
GLE M276 V6 and M256 inline-6 have good timing chain durability with proper oil maintenance. M276 has a known balancer shaft sprocket wear issue on high-mileage units. Guide for Malaysian owners.
All GLE engines — M264, M256, M176/M177 — use timing chains. No belt replacement required. Chain stretch and tensioner wear are the relevant concerns, especially on high-mileage W166 GLE with V6 engines. Correct oil spec and on-time oil changes are the best prevention.
