Mercedes-Benz CLA Used Car Checklist Malaysia — C117/C118
Buying a used CLA in Malaysia? Check C117 for M270 oil leaks and DCT adaptation, C118 for DCT history and MBUX updates. What to test drive and what fault codes to look for before buying.
Buying a used CLA? Add these checks on top of standard pre-purchase inspection. The C117 CLA is now 6–12 years old in Malaysia's used market — age-related electrical faults are increasingly common.
Transmission
- Test drive: pullaway judder = DCT fluid overdue. If 7G-Tronic: erratic gear changes = ATF overdue
- XENTRY: check for mechatronics fault codes, adaptation limits
Sunroof & Electrics
- Open/close panoramic sunroof fully — listen for motor strain or binding
- Ask when sunroof drains were last cleared
- XENTRY full scan: check airbag, COMAND, ADAS fault codes on C117
Engine & Carbon
- Any CLA over 60,000 km: ask about carbon cleaning history. If none: budget RM 800–1,200
- Cold start: listen for timing chain rattle in first 5 seconds
