Two Honda CR-V generations are active in Malaysia: the RW (5th gen, 2017–2022) and the RT (6th gen, 2023+). They share the 1.5T VTEC Turbo but differ significantly in platform and tech.
RW vs RT — key differences
RW (2017–2022): more affordable used, proven 1.5T, larger 225/65R17 tyres for better ride comfort, known oil dilution risk. RT (2023+): updated platform, standard Honda Sensing 360, 225/60R18, improved turbocharged response, better resale. For practical use in Malaysia: RW offers better value; RT offers more safety features. Both use HCF-2 CVT fluid — maintenance discipline is equally important.
