Honda CR-V Common Problems Malaysia (RW/RT)
Honda CR-V 1.5T oil dilution, CVT service and known issues for Malaysia owners. Stay ahead of problems.
The Honda CR-V RW (2017–2022) and RT (2023+) are Honda's flagship SUVs in Malaysia. The 1.5T engine delivers strong performance, but shares some known issues with the Civic's 1.5T unit.
1. Oil dilution (RW early models)
Same 1.5T engine as the early Civic FC — fuel can dilute the engine oil, particularly on short trips. Shorten oil change intervals if your driving is mostly city short-distance.
2. CVT service is critical
The CR-V is heavier and produces more torque than the City or HR-V, placing greater stress on the CVT. Fluid changes every 40,000 km are strongly recommended.
